Candidates must be 21 years of age.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
Provides guidance on physical training, fundamental rules, regulations and skills and uses different strategies to ensure individual and team success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
- Monitors supervision of team and student athletes after school hours.
- Supervises home and away athletic events as scheduled by Athletic Director.
- Works with the Athletic Director to develop schedules for athletic events including practice schedules.
- Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
- Adheres to the appropriate code of ethics.
- Performs other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Principal or Athletic Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Excellent organization skills;
- Knowledge of Virginia High School League policies, procedures and regulations; and
- Other such qualifications that the school board might accept in lieu of any of the above.
- Be recommended by the division superintendent and appointed by the school board.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Duties performed typically in the central office and throughout the division. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 40 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Travel to schools throughout the division and central office is required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members, administrators, and parents is required. Contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.
