GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher or paraprofessional.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
- Evidence of exemplary human relation skills.
- Evidence of exemplary organizational and planning skills.
- Evidence of ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises student in a variety of school-related settings.
- Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
- Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of children.
- Teaches or assists in lessons and duties outlined in the absent teacher's lesson plans or as directed by the teacher if serving in a paraprofessional role.
- Assumes responsibility for pupil behavior in class, during lunch and recess periods, and during fire or other disaster drills.
- Possesses an ability to work effectively with students at all levels and to establish and maintain good rapport while working closely with other teacher and administrators.
